Senior Partner - Mark Barrett
Mark Barrett LL.B (Hons) joined the firm in 1982 as a clerk whilst taking an external law degree (and supporting a wife and two children) and then went to Law College to complete his qualifications. He qualified in 1989 after being articled to his Partner, Nick Walsh’s father, Chris.
Early in his career Mark did a lot of family and personal injury work but has long since focused on commercial work and commercial property. He has appeared in many courts and tribunals and continues to undertake litigation for commercial clients if required.
Mark has strong links in the local community, helping to raise money for charity through service clubs and other causes, including Lewes Round Table and Rotary Club of Lewes, both of which he has been a member of for many years. He continues to play cricket when time allows!
Partner - Nick Walsh
Nick Walsh BA (Hons) joined the firm in 1985 and qualified as a solicitor in 1987 before becoming a partner in 1989. Whilst qualifying he was articled to Mark’s father, John Barrett, who was Senior Partner until retirement in 2002 after many years service in the firm. Nick has for many years specialised in advising clients on all aspects of residential and commercial property law and also advises on employment law issues. He also runs a telephone advice line for a long standing national trade association client of the firm.
Nick grew up and went to school in Lewes. He has lived in and around Lewes for most of his life. Out of the office, Nick is a keen runner and is often seen pounding the streets or running on the downs locally. He is an active parishioner of St Pancras Church in Lewes with which he has an involvement going back many years. Nick is a lifelong supporter and a season ticket holder at Brighton and Hove Albion.
