Resolving Disputes
Resolution
Anna Glenton is a member of Resolution, which is a voluntary association of family lawyers. The organisation believes that family law disputes should be dealt with in a constructive way, aiming to preserve people’s dignity and to encourage agreement. Members of Resolution abide by a code of conduct, and are committed to resolving disputes in a non-confrontational way. To find out more visit their website at www.resolution.org.uk.
Mediation
Blaker Son & Young encourage family law clients, wherever appropriate, to use methods other than court proceedings to settle disputes. We believe that this not only reduces acrimony, but it can also lessen costs and delay in reaching acceptable solutions. We have links with several excellent local mediation services, and we are happy to make referrals.
Courts
In most cases we would hope to be able to agree an outcome with your ex-partner. In most cases we would expect to be able to negotiate an outcome with your ex-partner. In a few cases it might be necessary to go to court to settle the matter.
The ultimate means of resolving disputes between ex-partners is the Family Court in most cases. We have many years experience in dealing with this type of dispute and members of our Family Department are in court every week. We can help you through what can be a difficult and stressful experience and explain how it works and what can be expected from the court system.
