Funding Options
BSY Family department offers a bespoke and friendly service to all their clients. We are one of the few remaining firms that still provide public funding to all eligible clients. We offer a free half hour consultation to all those who do not qualify for assistance, for whatever reason. We treat all our clients as individuals and this is reflected in our flexible approach towards our fees, which often take into account the very different personal circumstances of each client.
Legal Aid
We hold a Community Legal Service franchise to provide legal advice, assistance and representation in family law cases, under the civil legal aid scheme.
Civil legal aid can meet the cost of:
- legal advice and assistance
- writing letters and making telephone calls on your behalf
- drafting and preparing documents
- representation at court
To be eligible for legal aid you have to satisfy a means test and also have a case that justifies public money being spent on it. We can advise you about the terms of the scheme.
Private Paying Clients
We charge for the work we do by applying an hourly charging rate. We will give you clear information at the first meeting about how much we charge. We will confirm this information to you in writing if you choose to instruct us, and we will provide you with a written estimate of how much time your case is likely to take. If you are paying your costs privately we will advise on setting up a monthly payment scheme by standing order.
